Gil Elvgren is part of the 'Holy Trinity' of Retro Artists: Vargas, Petty and, of course, himself.

He produced pin-up art from the 30's to the 70's (falling at last before the onslaught of photographic calendars). The Elvgren Girl is a 'girl next door' (if you're lucky!), with a tendency toward accicental exposure.

The Elvgren Girl had a twinkle in her eye, and was likely to trigger the same in her viewers. Whether dealing with vagrant breezes, unexpected visitors or the many other vagaries of life which conspired to expose her to all, she took it in stride, with a smile. Because she was in on the joke.

For four decades, she was The All American Girl.
