Born Albert Leslie Buell in 1920 in Hiawatha Kansas. Worked with Gil Elvgren in the Sundblom shop in Chicago.

Buell's girls are fewer in number than, for example, Elvgren or Vargas (a trait Buell shares with Ed Runci). Likewise, prints are harder to come by. Similar to Runci, again, Buell's pretty girls really are "pretty." These girls-next-door are captured in such typically innocent pursuits as sewing, playing tennis, or riding a swing.
